Computer · True or False?
The answer is False.
Computer viruses target software and data: they are malicious code designed to replicate, corrupt files, steal information or disrupt operating systems. They can, however, cause indirect hardware damage, for example by overriding safety controls to disable cooling fans or overclock components. The most famous example is Stuxnet (discovered in 2010), a worm that sabotaged Iranian nuclear centrifuges by making them spin erratically, reportedly damaging around 1,000 of them.
