Knowledgle is a free true or false quiz game. This page explains what information the site keeps about you, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: we only store what the game needs to work, we don't show ads, we don't track you, and we never sell your data.
Who is responsible
Knowledgle is run by Quentin Malherbe, Morlaix, France. For any question about your data, write to contact@knowledgle.com.
What we store
If you create an account
- Your username: shown on the daily leaderboard next to your score.
- Your email address: used only to identify your account. We don't send newsletters or share it.
- Your password: never stored as you typed it, only as an encrypted hash that can't be turned back into the password.
- Your daily challenge results: your score and your answers for each day you play, used for the leaderboard and your profile stats.
- The date your account was created.
If you play the daily challenge without an account
We save your answers and score under a random code stored in a cookie on your browser (see below). This code is not linked to your name or email. It lets us remember that you already played today, and your answers count, anonymously, in the "Users' guesses" percentages shown after each daily. If you later log in, that day's result is moved to your account.
Free play
Free play doesn't send anything to us. Your highest scores and your display preferences are saved only in your own browser (local storage), and you can delete them by clearing your browser data.
Cookies
The site uses only two cookies, both needed for it to work. Neither is used for advertising or tracking, which is why there is no cookie banner.
| Name | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Keeps you logged in while you browse. | Until you close your browser or log out |
guestId | Remembers your daily challenge if you play without an account. | 1 year |
Who else receives data
- Our host, [OVHcloud, France], stores the site and its database, and keeps standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security.
- Google Fonts and cdnjs (Cloudflare) provide the site's font and icons. When a page loads, your browser contacts them, which gives them your IP address.
Nobody else receives your data, and we never sell it.
How long we keep it
- Account data and results: as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, everything linked to it is deleted.
- Results played without an account: kept to compute the daily statistics. They can't be linked to you, only to the random code in your browser.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data we have about you, correct it, receive a copy of it, or have it deleted, including your whole account. Just email contact@knowledgle.com from the address linked to your account.
If you think we're not handling your data properly, you can also complain to your data protection authority. In France, that's the CNIL.
Changes
If we change how the site uses your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
